Garbage Man Shocked Everybody On American Idol!🤯
Description: #shorts #edits
This is Doug Kiker, known as "The Singing Garbage Man" from American Idol Season 18.
Doug Kiker walked into his American Idol audition in 2020 as a full-time sanitation worker from Mobile, Alabama, with zero singing experience beyond serenading the trash on the back of his garbage truck. When he opened his mouth to sing Rascal Flatts' "Bless the Broken Road," it stunned the room — his performance moved judge Katy Perry to tears, and Luke Bryan personally coached him through the trickier notes on the spot. Judge Lionel Richie was floored by the moment, telling Kiker, "For a man who has no idea what his voice can do... he's trying to show his daughter that he's somebody. I want us all to let you know, you are a hell of a man." Kiker earned his golden ticket to Hollywood and instantly became a fan favorite, though his lack of formal training caught up with him and he was eliminated during the Genre Challenge. He was later invited back to perform "Bless the Broken Road" again alongside Rascal Flatts themselves at the Season 18 finale. Doug Kiker passed away in March 2025 at age 32; no cause of death has been publicly confirmed.
