Indians.. 'Monster State' UP is BREAKING in 4 Pieces - Uttar Pradesh #shorts
Description: The proposal to divide Uttar Pradesh into four states has returned to political discussion after Cabinet minister Om Prakash Rajbhar claimed that reorganisation could follow a caste census.
Rajbhar, who heads the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party, claimed he had discussed the matter with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His statement has revived a longstanding debate ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections, but the reported assurance remains his account rather than a confirmed government timetable.
The four regions commonly mentioned are Purvanchal in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Paschim Pradesh in the west, Awadh Pradesh in the central region and Bundelkhand. These names refer to earlier proposals; they are not newly notified states with finalised boundaries or capitals.
The idea gained formal backing in November 2011, when the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, under then-chief minister Mayawati, passed a resolution seeking four smaller states. That resolution did not result in the proposed division.
Supporters argue that smaller states could improve administration and give greater attention to regional development needs. Any actual reorganisation would also require decisions on boundaries, government assets, employees, finances and administrative institutions.
Under Article 3 of the Constitution, creating new states requires parliamentary legislation. The President’s recommendation and a reference to the affected state legislature for its views form part of the process.
For residents, the current development is a renewed political demand. Claims that four new states have already been approved or that their formation is imminent go beyond the available confirmation.
