Cooking Perfect Asparagus: Is snapping or peeling the best?
Description: Are you a snapper or a peeler? In this video I will show you how to cook perfect asparagus, and why peeling the asparagus is better than the snapping method.
Snapping the asparagus is good for when you have a lot of asparagus to prep but are short on time. It's efficient and quick. But there is a lot of wastage and the asparagus will not be very flavorful.
On the other hand, peeling the bottom half of the asparagus removes the skin and exposes the edible pulp. Because the skin is gone, the exposed flesh of the asparagus is able to absorb cooking liquids - like chicken stock, vegetable stock, etc - and this gives you the ability to infuse the asparagus with flavor while cooking it.
