Wildwood (2026) - Peyton Elizabeth Lee & Mahershala Ali | Laika Spent 16 YEARS Making This film!
Description: #Wildwood #Laika #PeytonElizabethLee
After sixteen years of painstaking handmade craftsmanship, Laika's most ambitious film ever is finally here. Wildwood just held its world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival and arrives in US theaters October 23, and it has already broken a major record before release.
Wildwood is the sixth feature from Laika, the studio behind Coraline and Kubo and the Two Strings, and at 131 minutes it is officially the longest stop-motion animated film ever made, as well as the studio's first PG-13 release. Directed by Travis Knight and written by Chris Butler, the film adapts Colin Meloy's beloved novel about Prue McKeel, a Portland teenager who ventures into a forbidden enchanted forest after crows kidnap her baby brother. The voice cast includes Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Jacob Tremblay, Carey Mulligan, Mahershala Ali, Angela Bassett, Awkwafina, Charlie Day, and Tom Waits, with cinematography by Caleb Deschanel and a score by Dario Marianelli. The film is being released domestically by Fathom Entertainment with FilmNation handling international sales, and it is already the early frontrunner for the Best Animated Feature Oscar, continuing Laika's streak of nominations for every film it has produced.
Stay with this video until the very end for the full cast breakdown, the incredible sixteen-year production journey, the record it just shattered, and why this could be Laika's greatest film ever.
