Green Party’s ‘NO BANTER’ Rules?! Leo Kearse on Littlewood & Cox
Description: On The Littlewood & Cox Show on UK LIVE, comedian Leo Kearse joins Mark Littlewood and Paul Cox for a very lively discussion about reports that Green Party members were given guidance on how to deal with potentially discriminatory jokes and banter at party events.
The conversation quickly expands into a wider debate about free speech, political correctness, offensive comedy, workplace diversity training and whether humour is increasingly being policed.
Leo argues that comedy and satire often work by exposing uncomfortable truths, breaking taboos and saying things people recognise but might not normally say out loud. The panel also debates whether comedy is inherently cruel, why British humour relies so heavily on sarcasm and subtext, and whether fear of causing offence is changing the way people talk to each other. LEO
Expect a typically irreverent conversation covering the Green Party, banter, censorship, comedy, satire, unconscious bias training, free speech and British humour.
Has banter gone too far, or are we becoming too afraid to joke? Let us know in the comments.
